TORONTO, ON – On May 4th
2007, The Bukavu Foundation presents its first annual
charity gala event. We invite our budding philanthropists,
distinguished sponsors, media guests and friends to attend
an exclusive open-bar reception upstairs at 577 King West,
where our city’s finest in entertainment, fashion
and culture will come together for Toronto’s most
engaging charity event of the season.
A magical night of glamour, glitz, and a taste of the
African Safari, The Bukavu Foundation's Charity Gala,
will be complete with a photo shoot featuring the fresh
designs of Nicolette Yeung, former apprentice to Marc
Jacobs in New York City, as well as Chrissy Kolmegies,
a native Torontonian whose designs have graced runways
in Montreal and high profile events around the globe.
The night will also include the unveiling of an African-themed
art and photography display showing the passionate work
of both local and African artists, a live body-painter
and model, an African dance and drum show, and a jewellery
showcase including the work of acclaimed Toronto based
designer “Louanne” and the unique bronze cast
jewellery of Montreal based designer, Rochelle Goldberg.
Works by our talented artists and designers, and gifts
from our generous sponsors, will be up for grabs in a
silent auction during our VIP pre-party from 8:00pm to
10:30pm.
The Bukavu Foundation Charity Gala objective is to generate
awareness of the issues plaguing the women and children
in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Africa, while introducing
a new generation of benevolent socialites to a cause worthy
of their generous philanthropy. We invite you to join
us in celebrating an evening of compassion, celebration
and style.
We invite you to open your minds and hearts to help us
reach our target goal of $40,000. If you would like to

About Us: The Bukavu Foundation is a
Toronto-based charity dedicated to improving the lives
of impoverished women and children in the city of Bukavu,
Democratic Republic of the Congo. Without help, these
women and children have little chance at life. The Bukavu
Foundation believes the best means of tackling the extreme
poverty and destitution that plagues the Congo is to generate
self-sufficiency among its most desperate citizens. Through
the implementation of educational programs and vocational
training, the Bukavu Foundation hopes to develop long-term
prosperity for these citizens. While the Foundation works
to build a stronger and more prosperous community, it
will help children in the region gain access to basic
healthcare. |
